Dear Corgi Lovers,
YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER THRU THE LINK BELOW ON THE SPCA SITE IF YOU
WANT TO WALK. RSVP'ING HERE IS NOT ENOUGH!!
I needed to edit this meetup to include the link to the Corgi Meetup Team Page
for the SPCA Jog that Kathy made. YOU NEED TO REGISTER TO ACTUALLY WALK<
AND PAY THE REGISTRATION FEE ONLINE. THE DEADLINE IS March 6 early bird
for 1 person and 1 dog (1 dog per person only) it is $20.00 and you get a t-shirt!
it's a big fundraiser, lots of fun! March 18th is deadline to register with $30 fee.
****I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT SINCE WE ALL LOVE OUR CORGIS
AND WOULD NOT WANT THEM TO FALL INTO THE HANDS OF AN OWNER(S)
WHO DO NOT KNOW THE BREED, AND SINCE THERE ARE MANY CORGI RESCUES
WHO HAVE BEEN ABUSED (Court is a rescue; Nancy and Mike often go to CorgiAid
fundraisers and events to raise money for our abused freiends, Sharon rescued
McSqueezy who Kate adopted) THAT WE USE OUR PRESENCE IN PART TO DRAW
ATTENTION TO CORGI RESCUE. FOR EXAMPLE: WOULD SOMEONE WHO IS REMOTELY
ARTISTIC MAKE A PLACARD OR 2 THAT CAN BE WORN OVER OUR HEADs, WITH A SIGN
FRONT AND BACK SAYING, 'REMEMBER THE CORGI RESCUE' OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT?
WE WOULDN'T WANT OUR SWEET CORGIS TO BE AN ADVERTISEMENT FOR JUST
THEIR SWEETNESS, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THAT OFTEN MEANS PEOPLE GET ONE YET
DON'T KNOW WHAT THE BREED IS LIKE...
PLEASE, WHEN YOU RSVP, GIVE YOUR OPINION
YES for 'Remembering the Corgi Rescue' or some such message(s)
and if you will make a placard, flag or...not political, just awareness raising!
NO for no message
or mention other ideas
Kathy, our most brand new member and corgi-mom or 2 and 1 chihuahua
has done this walk for years,
the 5k Run is only for humans...the Dog Jog is a 1 mile, round the block walk
which is what we'll do, one dog per person..REMEMBER TO REGISTER WITH THE LINK BELOW!
Kathy set the Fundraishing Goal for the team as $100.00,
and you can set your own individual goal as part of that.

SEVENTH ANNUAL
DOG JOG AND 5K RUN
Fundraising Goal: $106,000
Fundraising Achieved: $53,490
Welcome to our Seventh Annual Dog Jog and 5K Run, presented by Car Pool Car Wash & Detail! This annual fundraiser for the Richmond SPCA takes place on Saturday, March 21, 2009 and features a timed, competitive 5K Run, a fun, walker- and pet-friendly 1-mile Dog Jog, vendor fair, and the Holiday Barn Pet Resorts hospitality garden, featuring cold beverages, coffees and teas from Espresso-A-Go-Go, food, music by DJ Tara Lane, an awards ceremony with Stevie Lynne from 965KLR, Amy Lacey from WRIC Channel 8, Richmond SPCA CEO Robin Starr, and more! All events are pet friendly except for the 5K Run, which is for people only.
In 2008 this event raised more than $100,000 for their care, and we look forward to meeting or exceeding that goal in 2009! Registered participants can customize their own fundraising web pages and send e-mails to friends and family. Raising donations is easier than you might think, and top fundraisers will earn great prizes! We welcome all Richmond SPCA supporters to come out on March 21, cheer on our runners and walkers, and visit our vendor fair and hospitality garden. All events take place at our Robins-Starr Humane Center, located at 2519 Hermitage Road in Richmond, Virginia.
