Good morning everyone

Well I spoke with an insurance agent yesterday and he did quote me 615.00 for an annual policy. This will cover up to a million dollars in liability. This does cover anyone that may get injured, if a dog bites someone or their pet, coverage for pet injury, property damage and the list goes on. The one time policy would only be around 300.00. ( does not cover as much)

Now one of the things I do realize, is that the price is a little shocking and I am sure that some people think that is over and above what is necessary for what should be a simple meet up group. Even I started thinking maybe this is more trouble then its worth. But the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Please know that while I would definitely want for all of you to come to Holiday Barn for a Meetup, that truly is not my only motivation for getting all of you to go with a liability policy. This would definitely be of benefit to you if you meet up at some ones home, park etc. People just don't think of these things most of the time and we should all be more careful in our thinking for many reasons.

One of them being that people tend to "jump the
gun" so to speak and are quick to open a lawsuit where animals are involved. I do not wish this on anyone because as far as I am concerned, "most" people that have animals are good people with a few acceptions.

Yes, the price is high but when you break it down, it is only about 20.00 per person. For almost 1 million dollars in coverage, that is pretty good considering it is an annual policy. I would even put in 50.00 of my own money should you choose this policy. Also, my other suggestion would be to make a couple of phone calls to get different price quotes. There might be cheaper policies. I myself am going to make some calls for you.

Please be patient and I will update as I find out more. So far we offering to those who come if this all turns out ok, 10.00 of a shed x treatment in grooming, a free intro for day camp for those interested, refreshments for the people and their pets, a free training evaluation for any one interested and some more discounts upon arrival. Keep in mind this policy will enable you to have a safe fun place to meet now as well as in the future.

Well I am off to make more phone calls and see if I can get a cheaper price for all of you.

Hope to meet all of you very soon.

Sincerely
Tammy
ps Don't forget to come meet us at Glen Allen days this saturday in Crump Park. We will have a booth there and I would be happy to speak with more at that time. Our booth will be there around noon.

Hello again

I just got off the phone with a couple of different agents for liability. It will be the beginning of next week before I get the price quotes back. I will keep you all posted.

Thank you so very much for all of your patience.

Ben and his colleague have been in touch a few times
and talking to you
it's not a simple thing!
as i said, and to the group, we're cutting teeth here
for the potential of our and other dog/animal groups
needing this type of insurance...
in the meantime i got a call from Janet about her desire
to host a meetup...
Janet and all: my mother is coming in any moment,
she is here for medical tests thru next thursday...
i'll try to call you before..
but janet if you have a day etc in mind, a sunday possible?
you can post it for now so people can start thinking..

going out on a limb here...i wonder if it should be
as you were one of those that thought so,
a meetup of those core and mostly older members
who can meet with their dogs and discuss the future
of this group...
maybe 10-15 dogs that know each other already?

please post your opinion members,
and go ahead and say what you're thinking Janet!
thanks everyone for your patience!

Hi Leila

Well I am thinking I will have a final estimate for liability insurance by the beginning of next week. I have gotten a couple already but I am waiting for a couple more. Fair warning, so far they are about the same. As of right now, it would be about 20.00 per person. This is a one time fee and all the policies I have looked at are for 1 year. Remember that I will contribute 50.00 towards the purchase of the policy just because I believe that for many reasons, you should have coverage when doing meet up groups anywhere.

I will get with you the beginning of next week when I have all of the final quotes in. Has anyone checked with their own carriers to see if they can get a special rate?

Tammy
