Thanks Alanna and Linda,

We dropped her off this morning. It was so hard. Her surgery is this morning and will take about three hours. She has 2 ruptured disks on different sides, which require different entrances and different solutions. We were told L-5-6 is harder to get to, but less risky; L2-3 is easier to get to but paralysis is a complication. I will feel much better when I get that phone call this afternoon.

The vet told us that she would be in the hospital for a few days, but it would be about 6 weeks before she can resume most activities. They don't want her to walk for awhile, but they are optimistic that she won't be paralyzed after surgery for any period of time. I am so nervous about the rehab, but we feel we are in good hands.

Alanna, we are inspired by your words and advice. Its comforting to hear from someone who has been through it. We'll ask for another sling.

Linda, thanks for the hugs and one to you for helping us out.

We will keep you posted.

Best of luck to Sydney on her surgery, I hope everything goes wonderfully! I have no experience with this, but have heard multiple times what wonders these surgeries can do, so I believe you've made the right choice taking her in. Keep us updated, Philip sends healing Corgi vibes your way.

Hello,

I am sure there was not much to report yesterday about Sydney. Hopefully she came through the surgery OK and will be on her way to recovery!

Please know that we are keeping you in our prayers!

We just got the good news that Sydney can come home tonight!

The vet said the surgery went well and he didn't have to do much manipulation of her spinal cord.

She can walk, although she is not supposed to much. We are thrilled about that. She is also eating; that dog doesn't miss a meal even after surgery.

Thanks to all for your support. We'll keep you updated.
