The results of the "Beach or Not" poll are in! And the winner is "No beach meetup in April." Although some of you thought it would be fun to scamper in the waves, we'll go with the majority and continue to meet at parks for now. I know those of you who long for the surf and saltwater will get there on your own somehow. So - Our April Meetup will be held at Rancho Bernardo Park - a new venue for us. The area is fenced and has been recommended by several Meetup members. You can see more information about it at http://ranchobernard odogpark.com. In May, we'll meet at Montevalle Dog Park in Chula Vista - to keep with the custom of moving around the county. Continued thanks to all of you who send me recommendations for dog-friendly venues. I know we'll get to them all eventually. See you on the 28th!

The March Meetup for our wonderful Corgis and their equally sociable owners will be held on March 24th at 10am at Poway Community Park. Come one, come all! We seem to be gaining new members every month as evidenced by the terrific participation at these events and how word of mouth is swelling the size of the group. Who would have thought that there were so many Corgi-type people in San Diego? Our members are doing a great job talking to Corgi lovers they encounter and encouraging them to join in the fun! You're invited to participate in this gathering if you have a Corgi, or if you have a Corgi and another dog too, or if you don't have a Corgi yet but are thinking about it, or even if you think you might enjoy seeing a whole bunch of short dogs running around like crazy, having a wild old time! This is a casual, friendly group. We'd love to see you and your dog(s) and your friends too. Please join us for a couple hours of fun and frolic!

Join us in February for another rolicking good time - for corgis and people alike! At the suggestion of a member, we're going to try Wells Park and Off-Leash Dog Park in El Cajon for the first time in February. We'll hope to see all of you there. Our January meetup was our biggest ever and it looks like we continue to attract corgis and their humans from all over San Diego. Members are doing a great job spreading the word! We had many first-time attendees in January and they found out about our wonderful group because you told them! Keep telling people about the group - the more, the merrier. Thanks too to all of you who uploaded photos from this gathering. Be sure to check them out! There are some good ones. Several people have told me that they may be looking for corgi puppies to expand their families in the next few months. My goal is to compile a list of breeders for the February meeting and to bring handouts with all the pertinent information. If you have information about a good corgi breeder you'd like to share, please send me an email with the name, contact information, and any comments you have. We wish all of you and those cute dogs have a happy Valentine's Day!

Happy New Year, all you Corgi fans. Our first San Diego Corgi Meetup of the year should be an exciting one. We'll go back to the 4th Saturday of the month and watch out - it's a different location this month. We'll be meeting at Henry Griffin Park in La Mesa. This is also a fenced facility and has plenty of parking. Please see the map for directions. Everyone is welcome at a Corgi Meetup. That includes corgis and other assorted family dogs, corgi owners, and miscellaneous friends too! Wear casual clothes (people only!) and join us for fun and frolic as we begin 2007 with a wonderful group of romping pooches. This month, we'd even like to create an opportunity to give something back. And we thought it would be fun to do it as a group. How about a donation for Best Friends Animal Society: We feel fortunate to live in the best city, with the best kind of dogs (corgis, of course), and to enjoy the best weather anywhere in the US. Because you are coming to these gatherings, we know you are a concerned and loving pet owner. But not all animals have it as good as your short little dog does! There is a wonderful organization in Utah called Best Friends Animal Society. They take in all kinds of animals from all over the US - and even recently from Iraq. This is a no-kill facility and these animals have a home for life even if no adoptive family can be found. You can find out more about them at http://www.bestfrien ds.org. Best Friends has a need for everything. Do you have old towels you can donate? Or an old animal bed or old puppy toys that you dog doesn't need anymore? These people can use it. They need dog and cat food, grooming items like brushes and combs, you name it. Last year, JB and I sent a big box of old towels and received a wonderful thank you letter. And, of course, they can always use cash donations. What can you spare? Whatever it is, please bring it to the January meeting and we'll bundle it up and send it to Best Friends. Note: Weight counts in shipping! Please don't bring a giant bag of cat litter. If you have any questions about what you might contribute, you can email me at cm@bluebearsoft.com and I'll get back to you. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 27th. Happy January!

Our December Corgi Meetup has been moved to the third Saturday (instead of the 4th) so there will be less conflict with Christmas events. Please join us for more informal frolicing and bring your friends too! The dog park area is located at the back of the park. There are paths from parking lots on both sides that lead you back to the dog areas. Another informal poll taken at the meetup on Nov 25th confirmed that members prefer having a fenced area for these gatherings and that the Poway location seems to work well for everyone. So that's what we'll do in December too. I am planning on having the meeting in January at Harry Griffin Park - which is a little further south, off Highway 8. There was also some talk about doing a beach jaunt at some point in the coming months. So we'll be looking at that possibility in 2007. We hope to see you at the December meeting.
