Our gathering of San Diego Corgi Meetup for February will be at Nate's Point in Balboa Park. We hope to see everyone there. If it's raining, some folks will probably still show up, so feel free to come on out regardless of weather. We hope to see all our short-legged friends there - and their two-legged people too!
A peek into the future..... Herding Sheep: Last meetup, we took an informal survey about having a corgi sheepherding experience and most folks seemed very interested. Our members Maxine and James are also Sheltie Meetup members and raved about trying herding with that group. I've talked to the gal out at Canines N' Ewe Sheepherding Ranch (visit http://caninesnewe.co... for more info) and have it set up for our group to head down there in April. We can't go in February because they will be in the middle of lambing season - how fun is that? Here's what I know so far:
Date - April 25
Time - Don't know yet (probably start in the morning and go until we're done)
Where - Campo - about a 1 hr 10 min drive from Mission Valley
Cost - $35 per dog
Reservations? Yes, I'll need to get a count for how many are coming because she has to know how many sheep to have available. You don't have to tell me 'yes' or 'no' now. I'll poll members to get a count when I send out the info next month for our March Meetup.
What if you don't want to go? No problem. I'll arrange an alternative Meetup location for April for anyone who wants another choice. But, note that you could always come down to Campo and let your dog run around. You don't have to do the sheepherding part. I'll find out more about this and let you know.
Hope to see you all at the February gathering! Happy Valentine's Day!!
“ This was our first big meet-up, and it was fabulous! Toki had a great time, and we loved seeing all the different corgis. Can't wait till the next meet-up! ”
“ My first meetup and it was great. I had a wonderful time meeting owners and their dogs. A very friendly group. Besides my Corgi, KennyChesney, I brought my Weimaraner, Mocha, and she had a blast running all around. She ended up amusing the people crossing the Cabrillo Bridge because she was almost up against the wall pointing at a lizard. They stopped to see what she was doing. Back to the Corgies - like I said, I had a great time and so did Kenny. I had brought water and a dish and was popular among the canines. ”
“ This meetup was actually a very fun one, and Roamy was more active and playful than usual, folks we hadn't seen in awhile were there, the weather was lovely.
Then, one of the less socialized dogs that persists on being there attacked Roamy and bit her in 3 places. She was bleeding, scared, and now (7 hrs later) doesn't feel very well. I'm so disappointed that people who KNOW their dogs aren't very socialized still bring these animals and let them be free--have they not heard of muzzles? Behavior modification classes? Is there a way we as a group can ask these folks with their poorly behaved dogs to LEAVE??? I would like the phone number of these people in case my dog gets worse. ”
“ Jonesy and Hannah went to Coronado dog beach before coming to the park so I know Jonesy was a little tired. He was still able to do his usual barking though. Took him home and had a bath and he slept the rest of the day on his back of course. Can't wait for corgi meet at the beach (Coronado of course) ”
“ Lots of fun. As always, thanks to the Martin's for keeping up the website and keepin us organized. Fun to see all the dogs and talk to all the corgi lovers. ”
