It's that spooky time again! Time for Halloween and that means it's time for a Corgi Halloween Costume Contest once again. Remember last year? It was just after the fires and our first place winner came attired as a firetruck! We still enjoy showing those pictures to our friends.

This year we'll be meeting at Wells Park. The Dog Park is a 1.4 acre spread within El Cajon's Wells Park. It is the East County's second leashless dog park and is a grassy haven for pooches. And it's been getting rave reviews from East County residents who sometimes traveled far away just to let their dogs run wild. It has gravel and grassy sun areas and dual drinking fountains (for pets and their owners). Located in the southwest part of Wells Park at 1153 E. Madison Ave., the off-leash area is open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is lighted for night use.

We'll plan to hold the costume contest at 11am, so plan to be there by then if you want to strut your stuff. We think it would be fun to give out prizes like we have before, so if you can bring something to donate (it doesn't have to be big! it's just fun to win something!), please do. We'll have winners in the following categories: Best Costume and Most Creative. Then we'll have a general drawing for the rest of the prizes.

If this contest and watching a bunch of short dogs run around with abandon sounds like something fun, please join us on Saturday. Everyone is welcome. Bring your friends too. Hope to see you there.

On a doggy day care note: If you are in the downtown area, you might want to check this out. I received this notice from "Dogs and the City." We are an indoor facility and would love to enroll any of your members for daycare! We have supervised activities and take them for walks, too! Please visit or contact: Dogs and the City, Daycare & Spa 555 W. C street #101 San Diego, CA 92101 - [masked] - dogsandthecity.com

See you soon.

Your organizers,
JB and Carol

I'm really upset that I couldn't make it. My alarm clock didn't go off! I'll be sure to make it to the next meetup with a backup alarm!

    •  Watching a bunch of Corgis cavort around in Halloween costumes is HYSTERICAL!!
    •  We had a great time - lots of terrific costumes and much barking among the contestants. I love Wells Park - the shade trees make it so nice and it was a lovely day to boot. Thanks to all our members who brought prizes to give away - that was so much fun. An especially big thank you to our member with the PetSmart connection who brought all those goody bags! Wow - that was an unexpected bonus!
    •  It was wonderful seeing all the corgis in their costumes, there was some really great ones. I love seeing all the pups having a good time, running all around enjoying themselves with the big dogs.
    •  Rating is a bit late, but with 60+ costumed corgis and a raffle to boot this meetup was wonderful!
    •  All the costumed dogs were great. Willow finds the big, barky crowd a little overwhelming, though.
    •  I had a lot of fun this time. The Corgis were on their best behavior for the most part. I loved the give away and the costume contest! And I loved all the cameras snapping away at our little ones.
    •  it is probably our favorite meetup as the corgi costumes are a lot of fun. the raffle was a nice touch. as usual they kept us on our toes.
    •  The park was okay, but getting to and from the freeway was a nightmare. Also, 60 miles round trip. Probably would not attend one this far east again.
    •  All of the dressed-up Corgis were so adorable!!!
    •  Great costumes and lots of fun! It'such a fantastic group of people to be around. Thanks Carol for taking such good care of us, your the best.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR A GREAT TIME. WE LOVED SEEING ALL THE BABIES DRESSED UP AND LOOKING SO CUTE AND COMFORTABLE AS WELL. WE LOVE THESE MEETUPS AND ARE LOOKING FOWARD TO THE NEXT ONE. THANKS AGAIN, GREG AND SANDY ROZELL
    •  We had a wonderful time! It was very well organized and fun. Amazing to see how really good natured Corgis are, the majority did not seem to mind being dressed up! (o: Thank you Carol and helpers!! Kathy, Julio, Frances & Tipper
    •  I liked the mummy costume a lot.
    •  It was a lot of fun to see all the Corgis in their costumes and how they seemed to get a second wind after the costumes came off. :)

How fun seeing all the babies dressed up! Most didn't seem to mind their own costums, but had so much fun chewing and pulling everyone else. Great pictures.
