There seems to have an incident at Nates Point on Saturday. 5 month old Maggie, the puppy of a new member, was hurt by a "Big male Corgi" who jumped up and apparently grabbed the puppy while it was being held by its owner. The puppy has a badly bruised larynx and hind quarters, and is also coughing up some blood.
Was anybody a witness to this? Was this Corgi a group member? The owner is very distressed about what happened, as all of us would be. And she says that nobody even spoke to her about the altercation. |

Well, people are reading this, but not leaving comments. Thank goodness I was at the herding event.

And we were at the North County edition...
I feel very bad for the injured pup and I hope he's feeling better. Hopefully he does not fear other dogs, either. |

Don't mean to sound like Bart Simpson, but Clancy and I were at Oceanside Harbor over the weekend. It is so hard when our corgis get injured. We were coming back from a walk one evening and the people next door opened their gate to let a visitor in and their 3 pugs and a shepherd got out. The female pug went right for Clancy, who was about 6 months old and then the shepherd bit him. Luckily they were all superficial wounds but it was scary. I think back on what I could have done to prevent it and it is hard because it all happened so fast and both of us could have been badly hurt. Mostly you have to be ready for anything and everything and sometimes stuff can still happen.
Here is a link to some of the things that have gone on in the royal palace, with the Queen's corgis: http://www.gocorgi.co... Including the death of two of her dogs, one by the Queen Mother's corgi and one by her sister's bull terrier. Puppies are especially vulnerable and I never take anyones word..."Hey my dogs friendly or Foo Foo has never bit anyone." Well I don't want me or my corgi to be the first. Corgis are bred to chase and even kill smaller animals and that could be your puppy. It is instinctual not aggression, but we have to watch how we play with them and make sure when we have our adult dogs out with us, that we keep them under our control. |
