Here's a fun event. Take your corgi to Ewetopia for the day. There your dog can test out her herding instinct.

It's fun to watch those who've never been around sheep or ducks before. There's usually a latent instinct brewing.

I went last summer. It was worth it just to see dozens of corgi's chasing each other and nothing at all around the fields. We didn't do the test then, but this would be a good year to see what she is made of.

There is usually a "trainer" dog in the corral who knows what to do so that your dog can get the idea.

Ewetopia has a website: http://www.ewe-topia.com/index.htm. for more information.

Hi Meet-up folks! I'm new here, but I'm guessing a few of you may have heard of
us, or our Woodinville Corgi get-togethers. I'll start announcing them here as well.

This one is NOT "The" PNW Corgi picnic - that'll be later this summer. This is just ... well, it's
nothing more than a meet-up at our home, so what better list to announce it to.

The rest of the stock announcement is below, but I wanted to preface it with a "Hello!"
and "Hope you can make it!". Check below for pictures from past events as well.

-----

It's been WAY TOO LONG. And life has been WAY TOO FULL. And both are a
good excuses to take a break with the dogs.

WHERE:
Leo & Kathy's House in Woodinville Washington (a suburb of NE
Seattle). We have about an acre of fenced yard for Corgwn to frolic
about in. Email (off list) for directions.

WHEN:
Sunday, May 20th from noon until whenever.

WHY:
because we need to. It's been a long wet and cold winter.

WHO:
Corgwn and their hooman's of course. (Sadly, due to issues we've had
in past gatherings, we have to respectfully request that children
under 10 not attend. We always feel bad knowing that this excludes
some from attending, but we're in a catch-22 situation. We ask for
your understanding.)

WHAT:
Bring yourselves and your dog. As usual, we'll provide liquid
refreshments. Heck, bring a camera too! You *know* we want your
pictures uploaded to the Corgi-L photo gallery!

NEWS:
http://corgwn.com... has this and any updates to the plans.

If you've never been, have a look at the 2006 Corgi Picnic photos to see
the venue and the good times being had by all.

It'd be nice if you could RSVP by May 16th so we know how big a Costco
run to do :-). But even if you don't - COME ANYWAY!

Hope to see you here,

Leo & Kathy

Come meet other corgi owners and enjoy about a 2 hour hike on Tiger Mtn. Meet at Laurie's house at 10:00 (directions will be sent to you when you RSVP) for the hike followed by a people and corgis pot luck afterward. Dogs can be off-leash for the hiking but we will be going through the state forest so you want to have a good recall. Please bring a leash with you to use until we get to the trailhead (about a 5 minute walk). I don't have a fenced yard, but dogs can hang out on the deck or in the house. Parking is limited so please try to carpool if possible. E-mail me with any questions. Hope to see you!

Hey everyone, for those who can't make the Tiger Mountain hike or just want to meet up before that, how about meeting at Magnuson Park for a nice walk along the lake?

We'll walk the main trail down to a sloping beach where the corgis can get their feet and bellies wet. Leashes are required outside of the dog park, but there's a good loop through a natural area with trails and plenty of interesting smells.

The park is very easy to find on Sand Point way. I've inserted a link to the website for directions.

Hope to see many of the new faces!

Hello everyone, it's time to do a hike with the corgis.

There are some "secret" trails on Tiger Mountain that the general public does not have access to as they cross private property! But one of our members lives nearby and knows where these trails begin.

There are a few different trails we could take depending on what everyone wants to do. There are two hikes we could do that are about 2 hours roundtrip - one is fairly flat and easy with just a few short hills. It goes to a waterfall but the end of the trail can be a little muddy. The other 2 hour is more uphill, probably about 30 minutes of hills (about 1200 ft elevation).

The other option is going up to Poopoo point, which is where the local paragliders launch from. That would be about a 3 hour roundtrip with about a 2000 ft elevation gain. There is a nice spot at the top with a picnic table where we could have lunch, but this might be a little more hike than people are up for.

Along the way on any hike there is a large field that the dogs can play in for a bit. For any of these the dogs could be off leash.
If we do the shorter hikes everyone is welcome to Laurie's house for lunch or snacks afterward. Be aware that I don't have a fenced yard but all corgis are welcome in my house (after a hose-off if they're muddy!) and we have a large deck they can hang out on.
These are the trails that go into the state forest but require crossing private property to access, so there aren't a lot of people who use them. There are lots of other options for Tiger Mtn that I'm not as familiar with but would be happy to check out.

After people RSVP for the hike, we will send out directions to the meeting point in Issaquah near Tiger Mountain. This will be a very fun day and I hope lots of you can join us. Especially those who haven't come to a meet-up yet.
