For those of us who live on the northend, here's a fun place to visit. Lord Hill is a wooded park set admist 1300 acres. The park is typically used by horses and mtn bikers, but never have I seen more than a few people when I've gone. The first part is downhill, then uphill, and then evens out. The main trail is wide, but there are a few narrow spurs to explore as well.

I consider leashes optional here, as there's no one here. If I do encounter a horse, I just turn around or get out the leash. There's a couple beaver ponds and maybe a view if we get to the lookout. I know this park and use it frequently. It's a great park for exercise and exploration! Tired doggies are guaranteed. April is a great time as the trees will be leafing out and bird activity will be high. See you there!

Here are directions: Take the Snohomish-Wenatchee exit off of I-5 onto US2 in Everett to second (east) Snohomish exit off US2; turn right onto 2nd Ave; turn left onto Lincoln Ave S which becomes the Old Snohomish-Monroe Hwy; turn right onto 127th Ave SE; drive south approximately 2-1/4 miles; turn left onto 150th St SE and proceed to the park entrance on the left.

A trip to Double Bluff off leash park on Whidbey Island has become a February tradition for our group.

To get there, take the Mukilteo Ferry. If you haven't been to Mukilteo before, just head straight down Mukilteo Blvd and follow the signs to the ticket booth. The ferry ride from Mukilteo to Whidbey Island takes about 20 minutes.

Upon arrival at the ferry dock on Whidbey, just drive off the ferry and head north for about 7 miles. Take a left onto Double Bluff Rd and follow to the end. It's about 10 minutes from the ferry to the beach.

Note that we're listing the time for this event as 12:00. That means aim to be on the 12:00 ferry. That'll put you at the off-leash park at about 12:30 - 12:45. We'll gather on the beach near the entrance to the off leash part of the beach. A herd of corgis is pretty hard to miss and we'll hang around the entrance till 12:45 before heading north up the beach.

For those who want to carpool, lets use the message board to facilitate that. If you are taking a car and have room for rider(s), please post; likewise, if you need a ride, post a request. You can match yourselves up and make arrangements to meet. A good place to meet is in the big parking lot to the left of the ferry dock, near the lighthouse.

Things to bring: Rubber boots or sandals would be good for the surf, binoculars for waterfowl, fresh water, towels, balls and cameras (of course).

Rain or shine, this will be a fun on-leash walk. We'll do a loop that will take us through the forested upper part of the park and then along the water below. It takes about 45 minutes for me and one corgi, probably closer to an hour with a group.

When we're done, those who are hungry can join us for lunch at Lee's Asian Restaurant, a West Seattle favorite. Lee's is at 4510 California Avenue SW.

When you RSVP, please answer the question about whether you are planning on lunch so I can make a reservation for our group.

Due to a scheduling conflict, we are moving the Marymoor meetup ahead one week. It will be our last official meetup at Marymoor for a while as we branch out and explore other parks around the region.

Be sure to check the calendar for future meet ups, including the Candy Cane Walk in Renton to support the senior center.

This is our regular monthly meetup event at Marymoor off-leash park.

If you haven't joined us yet, this is the perfect time to meet the group and romp with other corgi owners.

If you are new to the area, Marymoor Park is a fabulous place to take your dog. Come experience the fun of walking around with a large pack of corgis.

Sometimes it's tough to stay together, so don't worry if the group stretches out a bit- we usually stop at several places along the way to catch up or if people need to leave.

Please contact any of the organizers if you have questions.

See you at the park!

We meet at Lot D near the pay station at 10:00.

Here's a benefit event for Seattle off leash parks.

Local dogs, their families and friends will have a howling good time at the 9th Annual
Dog-O-Ween costume contest and fundraising event benefiting Citizens for Off-Leash Areas
(COLA). This popular event will take place at the Genesee Park off-leash area in Seattle on
Saturday, Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Treats for all attendants include prize raffles, a silent auction of tempting goody baskets
and an agility course. The day’s highlight is the doggy costume contest. Judging categories
include Scariest, Best Group, and Best Dog/Owner Combination.

The Genesee Park off-leash area is located at 46th Ave. S. and S. Genesee St. Dogs are
required to be on a leash outside of designated areas. It is recommended to arrive early, as
parking can be tricky.

COLA is a non-profit all-volunteer organization that partners with Seattle Parks &
Recreation to maintain and develop the city’s off-leash dog areas. Currently COLA volunteers
steward 11 Seattle off-leash areas. Dog-O-Ween is COLA’s largest fundraising event of the
year.

For more information and to see pictures of previous costume contest winners, visit
www.dogoween.org.

COLA exists to ensure the creation, improvement, existence and operation of the Seattle off-leash areas. This all volunteer 501 c(3) non-profit organization cooperates with the City of Seattle, community groups, citizens, and other interested parties to provide quality education and volunteer outreach.

Leashes are required. Bring water and snacks for a break. Greenlake is 2.8 miles around. A second lap is optional for dogs and humans who want more.

Heavy rain will cancel, but bring a coat and hat just in case.

See you there!
